even google is taking ages to load, just ran malwarebytes, ok, pc -pitstop tells me my speed is just under 2mb and ping 33ms. high contention ratio? cant understand it

bit more info please, what OS, internet browser and anti-virus do you use?
What type of connection are you using? If wireless, does plugging in the cable make any difference?

xp and explorer with aol avg paid for and zone alarm firewall, must have been aol as service is fine now. but what was weird was pc pitstop was aying my connection was fine , and was on specific london server test. yet when i clicked google was like treacle

Beware that AOL sometimes leaves a process running named Waol.exe which takes up most of your computing power, so slows everything down. If you look in task manager and see that process just hilite it in the list and close it.

I only use AOL for mail so I usually check after closing it to see if WAOL.EXE running and stop it
