H! KC, ;D
A shilling no i can't do that as i can't find one, but the fans are working ok all three of them. I can't get into the bios or do anything as the monitor and keyboard are dead again but everything is working except for them? so i cannot check for the automatic fan control to turn it off if i have it. Yes i think it's the heat and as i side i think it's the motherboard :-( i was going the change the power supply as i have two spare ones but thy have change the connectors again :-( i will keep trying things that i have all ready done but i think i will be getting bored with it soon, i am looking for a new motherboard now i do think that's the way too go ;D

Something strange is going on Elvis. No monitor and keyboard, there is only one common denominator between them is the motherboard. I have a feeling it might not be as simple as that though. It could be an intermittent fault on one or two of the power rails, but I cant see from here.

The power supply gives out 1.3v, 3.3v, 5v and 12v. You could have one or more going low on you. They usually just pack right up, but I have had one where the 12v would drop below 6v. All sorts of queer things started to happen, a bit like yours and its the only time I have ever had it happen. The PSU was only 2 or 3 months old as well.

I've got an 850 watt in The Beast Elvis, but I wouldn't fit less than 550 watt in anything. If you get one with a 24 pin power plug that splits into a 20 and a 4 pin, an 8 pin ATX plug that splits into 2 x 4 pin and it will fit anything. Although if you have a 24 pin power plug, a 4 pin in an 8 pin ATX will work. You have to fit it the side it wants to go and not force it in just anywhere.

If you order from Maplins online today Elvis, you will probably get it tomorrow. You normally get next day service, without paying the extra for it.

Your welcome mate. Its not Maplins, they dispatch straight away. It depends a lot on the GPO in your area, on when you get it. I've even paid for next day delivery on a Monday and have waited till Friday for the goods to arrive. I get most of my stuff from Scan.com these days, they use City Deliveries. Much more reliable than the Post Office and Scan are usually cheaper than Maplins.

The modular PSU will help keep things neat and tidy Elvis. The card scores quite well on benchmarks. I hope it all comes together for you when you get them.

Get another motherboard and you will have an almost new computer Elvis. If you shopped around; you might get a board with a better processor fitted, for much the same price as the board alone. As long as it uses the same memory as what you got. That will be the only thing you haven't changed. With some bundles, they throw in a couple of older memory modules anyway to get rid of it.

This is where you will wish you had slipstreamed a disk Elvis, coz it wont give you a repair option with your disk.
I have just put an AMD Phenom II x 4, 940 3000GHz, in The Beast and its a mile better than the Phenom 9850 x 4 2500GHz that I was using. I have still got to adjust the clock on the GPU, but it goes like a rocket. The 9850 is going on a M3A board, with 4 gig 800MHz RAM. Thats an early birthday pressy for my mates kid. I got to go to the hossy tomorrow, so that one wont get finished till Thursday. With a 750 gig SATA hard drive, that should do him for doing his homework on.

I didn't know you had an XP SP3 disk Elvis, it might give you a chance to repair then. I thought you were still using your old disk and installing the service packs seperate.
