A Little known utility for XP which originated in the Microsoft stable is a little free program called bootvis installing this you can speedup the bootup of the PC. It basically works in 3 phases. 1 it looks at all the programs etc loaded during bootup. 2 It looks at the order they are required 3 it moves them on the hard drive so that they all come together so future boots the hard drive can read in one go all the programs without thrashing around the hard drive. its available in many sites but here is one I use, never had any problems with software on this site majorgeeks.com/BootVis_d664.html

No, it's old school software - designed for technicians more than end users, but the following link should help www.gilsmethod.com/htspeedupboottimeswithbootvisOn older hardware, it can really make a big difference, but not so much on more modern systems ... but something is better than nothing ! I've used it to good effect on quite a few old beasts that should have been put out to pasture really

I installed it as well but completely forgit about it.
Like you lynnrose, no real difference.
But on the bright side, at least our equipment is up to date and not ready for pasture.
