In 7 years as a member of CIT MSN group I made less than 50 posts.

Funny that, you are making up for it now. Didn't you like MSN?

I thought it was great and I checked it regularly to browse but never had any questions, probably because I was two operating systems behind everone else. I couldn't believe how much time and effort you put in to it, as you do here. Brilliant.

Lynnrose, I just had a look at the members list (couldn't be bothered to actually count them) and I am guessing there are about 400 of us now. Not quite up to the old MSN numbers but how are new additions going. I try to check in here and the PC problem boards every day if I can but can see there is a lot less activity. It's nice to see you old stalwarts are plugging away with regular posts.

It would be hard to compare the new figures to the old. There were a lot of people join with computer trouble, fix it and not come back. Then if they did at a later date, they had forgotten their password and would join under another name. There was a vast difference between the membership figures and people regularly posting. Even now with a membership of 400, there's not 400 posts a day and some people are posting several times.

Hi MM, We have 367 members now (you can see how many on 'front page' of forum in the Info Centre) I am thinking of 'deleting' members that have been with us for a long time, but have never logged in or posted, but I would have to check their IP addresses against the Guests that pass through the forum as I would not like to delete anyone that still finds this group useful, but do not participate. I don't mind lurkers. I am happy that they are visiting.
Yes, activity is pretty poor compared to MSN, but thanks to our regular posters, you included, the site ticks over. Proboards do not have an easy way to find groups, a search facility, like MSN had, so that people can look for a group they would like to join, so new members are very rare, but Proboards will be setting up a directory at some stage, so that we will be able to add our site to a category eg. computer help The Directory will be located here The Proboards help forum have a board to advertise forums, but most forums seem to be aimed at youngsters with role-playing sites and teen TV series themes, but every so often I bump our thread up in the hope that there will be someone out there wanting computer assistant or to join in the fun and games lol Thanks so much for your support. Don't give up on us will you

There are hundreds of computer forums on Proboards and most of them are incomprehensible to the human race. This is where CIT and NHI stand apart from the rest.

I agree with Ken regarding the number of one off type members on MSN who having got their problem sorted out, promptly disappeared never to be heard from again. Over the years the MSN group was in business (so to speak) this amounted to a quite large percentage of the registered membership.
Given the fact that the ProBoard group has only really been in operation for a few months, you can't really compare membership numbers.
I think what we have here is the same hard core of dedicated members who were the regular posters on MSN,and I'm sure they will continue to be just as friendly and helpful here.
Who's to say, that given time, this group won't achieve or even surpass the MSN groups success. After all, CITMSN didn't start with thousands of members, it took time.

I'm pretty certain all the competition sites have an IT/Computer/Technical Help section. So you wouldn't be stepping on their toes by adding a few comping links here. Increase the traffic surely. Why not add a limited competition section in Coffee Bar say for computer related prizes or include electrical items. Everyone loves to win a prize (don't they?) Lynnrose had a nice software win recently. I went through a comping phase, but now limit my entries to prizes I really want rather than winning stuff that you then have to think of some relation you can offload the prize to at Christmas. I still have several cheques from Bananalotto that never got cashed. Did win a years supply of Hovis bread, a really nice butlers tray and stand, 2 digital cameras, 2 bikes, champagne hamper, set of spear and jackson garden tools etc; etc; but nothing really big like a car or a computer.
PS I keep an eye on the Top Posters list so I remain just outside the top ten.

Wow Phoney, that's alot of wins. Why did you not cash the cheques?
My last win was the other day, Cadbury's website, I have won 5 bars of chocolate, woo hooo!
It's here if you want to try it. You need a code from a choccie bar, so PM me if you want one.

Blimey ma'am! You don't hang about.
Jj has 202 and I'm on 201. I tried deleting a post but it stayed at 201 so I can't post again until Jj does. My goal is not to get on the top 10 list.
