The former Tennessee college student convicted of hacking into Sarah Palin's Yahoo Mail account was sentenced to 366 days in either federal prison or a halfway house.
David Kernell smiled as the sentence was delivered in US District Court in Knoxville, according to news reports. He faced a maximum of 20 years in custody, and federal prosecutors had been seeking 18 months imprisonment. Defense attorneys had asked for probation with no time served in prison. He was also sentenced to three years of probation.

American Airlines Inc. will recall 368 flight attendants in February and March to begin work in June and afterward, the air carrier and the Association of Professional Flight Attendants said Wednesday.
American spokeswoman Missy Latham said the airline was “very happy” to bring back the workers, all of whom were veteran flight attendants who came in the Trans World Airlines Inc. merger in 2001 and have been on furlough for more than seven years.

The IBM System/370 (S/370) was a model range of IBM mainframes announced on June 30, 1970 as the successors to the System/360 family. The series maintained backward compatibility with the S/360, allowing an easy migration path for customers; this, plus improved performance, were the dominant themes of the product announcement. Improvements over the S/360 first released in the S/370 model range included:
* standard dual-processor capability;
* "monolithic main memory" based on integrated circuits instead of magnetic cores;[1]
* full support for virtual memory through a new microcode floppy disk on the 370/145[2] and a hardware upgrade to include a DAT box on the 370/155 and 370/165; these were not announced until 1972;
* 128-bit floating point arithmetic.

371 people are to lose their jobs as the closure of a giant paper mill was announced today. International Paper will shut its Inverurie mill in Aberdeenshire at the end of next month.

The Class 378 Capitalstar[1] is a type of electric multiple unit which is part of Bombardier Transportation's Electrostar family and has been ordered for the new London Overground network. The class is derived from the Class 376 trains currently used by Southeastern, with the same wider metro-style sliding doors for more efficient boarding and alighting, which are faster and more reliable than plug doors, although they do not provide as much insulation for heating and cooling purposes. However, they also have significant differences, such as fully longitudinal seating similar to that used on London Underground rolling stock to give more standing room, which is necessary for the high passenger volume metro-style services expected to be run on London Overground. The units were initially announced as coming in two separate batches.
