This is a copy of the email I have sent to all members. I hope you did all receive it, but just incase.....(I have saved the picture above as a reminder of our soon to be lost group, soppy aren't I) Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me emailing you all, but I thought it would be best so that our lurkers and members that don't pop in to see us at CIT every day should know that all MSN Groups will no longer exist from February 21st 2009 CIT will carry on elsewhere, but do not panic as we are not moving yet. We have had an Emergency Forum for a few years that will be ongoing, so it might be a good idea for you all to you pop over there, add it to your favourites, have a browse, join if you want to and post some messages. Nothing has been discussed yet, but we will probably migrate to Multiply multiply.com/ as that way we can keep all the pages and message boards and perhaps we will get used to Multiply and the emergency forum so that CIT will stay as popular as it is now. It's up to all of you to keep CIT going and myself and all CIT managers are very grateful for all the hard work and time that our regular members spend @ CIT to keep it the warm and friendly place that it is. That's all for now, we shall keep you updated. Hi Lynnrose and all. Well to be fair, you did get 9 years out of MSN, so that wasnt too bad really :-) This forum is very well set up and organised and the Multiply network is probably fine when you get used to it. Change isnt so bad once you adjust, as I am sure you all will. Good luck!! Julia xxx

I was a little worried at first that we would lose alot of our members, but now I am starting to feel a bit more positive. If most of them try it out here now, instead of waiting until the actual closure of MSN Groups, then hopefully they will all be so used to the format, that it will go smoothly.

Well you know me, I am a funny old soul , and have disliked the MSN software for some time, as I always found it to be dreadfully restrictive and limiting, BUT I do appreciate that you and your members have built up an excellent and supportive community on MSN and that folk are a bit sad about closure and reluctant to move, but you know as well as anyone that MSN is merely a base and it is the people who matter, not the servers. If you all stay together (and encourage/bribe/cajole) most of them to join and use here, your community will not die but will simply flourish elsewhere. Take care and I will keep popping in from time to time to say hi... Julia xxxx

Well, I think Ive said it in here somewhere, Id rather have this forum than multiply so far, so Im happy to pop in here daily from now on, see how it picks up. In the coffee bar, theres a chat room, and u can have a natter to whoever else is popping in, i like that. and Im sure therell be plenty of other stuff to do like in the msn group. Ill stay here i think. Jj x

I have just wandered nosily over to Multiply and I honestly dont think it is that bad....I really have seen much worse. You get a page of your own and can join lots of groups if you want. I suspect what folk are suspicious of is that MSN boards are more like forum threads and the world is moving to more blog-like applications now with social networks and the like. This forum is probably much closer to MSN than Multiply though so it might offer a cosier home for members.

I like this forum much better than the multiply one, maybe I was just unlucky and checked out the wrong groups but I didn't like it at all. If however you all go there I will follow, as this is the friendliest most helpful group to join.

LR - are you considering giving serious thought to the notion of adopting this forum as the ultimate alternative, as you know I love it and feel very comfortable with it. ;D

Yes Buzzy, I have always liked this forum and I think members will also come to like it. I do think we will still migrate the MSN site to Multiply so that we are able to keep all pages and old messages etc for the time being until we decide what to do with them and also I think the multiply route is the best way to close our MSN Group as I believe there is a way that it takes all members with it or at least gives an option to inform members where we have moved to. Multply could also be a good way to get new members as we can still show as CIT in Multiply's Group lists then link to here.

I get a feeling that most groups that wish to remain in existence will migrate to multiply. However, it's not a bad idea to have a backup against disaster there.

This is going to take off okay, I think it is quicker in use than multiply, perhaps we could lose lots of stuff if we moved here, regarding storage etc. Still using this and a storage for pics like image shack or photo bucket could be very convenient. I did not like it at first but as you get used to it, and find your way around it is very good here. Well done Lynnrose. Just hope all the members can come over here, then whatever is decided we are still all together, and that is what is important now. Pete.

Sorry, but I still do not like Multiply:(
Alternatives apart from this board are YUKU, AIMOO, ZETABOARDS, GROUPBOX....and I am sure there will be others. I will check out Windows Live Groups tomorrow when they open.
