All functioning just fine until my system crashed. Upon reboot things seemed to be back to normal until working in Photoshop. Photoshop kept creating new layers and adding them to the picture I had open......only way to stop it was to close the program. Then when ever I tried to do anything on the system any drop down / pop up menus would appear until I put my mouse over them and they would shut down. That made it impossible to actually get into the system to do anything. I even tried in safe mode..same. I managed to launch my AV program which took 1 1/2 hours to complete a scan and reported nothing. I re booted the system about thirty times plus and eventually managed to do a system restore (in fact I undid a previous restore)...result, the same strange behaviour. Just about to give up, that was 4.30 AM this morning and upon another re boot everything back to working normally...any ideas?

Hi Mm
Try sfc /scannow, it sounds as tho you dropped a few files etc when PC crashed. put your XP disc in CD Drive and Close the box that opens.
In XP Go to Start then Run type in sfc /scannow ( remember the space after sfc) then Enter.
in Vista Click Start type in the Search Box cmd Then Press Shift, Ctrl and Enter keys at same time. then type into cmd box sfc /scannow as above
