I've used the BBC site for years (set to my local area)

It's got everything I need in a home page, like the local news, weather and latest sport headlines in a well laid out, advert free way. There's tv and radio and a host of other things like the BBC iPlayer - which you can choose to display or not

The ultimate home page IMO

Twitter is something the birds do in the morning, not an activity on my PC or phone
