Hi Sbrook, Not the same model as yours, but read some of the information here. There is mention of upgrading your wifi card driver. This one suggests changing the channel and some other stuff. Also here they talk about the antenna

If you go into the connection Properties of the computers that are working and see what channel they are on. If this one is different set it the same and if its the same set it to something different. If you have several on the same channel online at once it might be blocked out. If its online solo, it might need to be the same as the others. It could be on a channel that everyone else in the street is using and that will block it. When it comes to channels, it can be a bit of trial and error.

You could try contacting ACER support and telling them the problem you are having with your laptop..

That's a bugger with E Management software.. slows the computer right down it does. I was on another forum and someone said they ended up formatting and installing Windows XP from another disc and everythin was back up and running BUT faster.
In reply to sbrook I would reply to their e-mail and tell them that it did not work and ask if there are any suggestions.

I love Acer laptops, but I wont install any of their software. I did used to use their NTI disk maker for the restore disks and thats all. A lot of the extra crap doesn't get installed until you allow it on the first use. What I did was refuse the extras like the security not to be mentioned, that starts with N, Office 2007 trial and anything else that wasn't already on the hard drive. Then I would go into Add & Remove and take out anything I didn't want and install and run C Cleaner. Only then I would install my own security, programs and turn off System Restore. Then move the My Documents to the D: partition. Once that was done, I would clean up the system and defrag. Then I would use NTI and make a restore copy of the OS and never have to go through all the cleanup ever again if restoring. If anything happened, instead of using System Restore, I would use my disk which was a lot quicker and always worked. I still use a similar system now, but I use different software to do it and am able to do a bit more than with Acers NTI.

One more thing, you can also use NTI to make a copy of all your drivers. They are always handy to have.

Thanks, So do you think i should delete all the stuff i got from acer ie their programmes?? and put it on my usb stick for back up incase i need it, and if i do that would i get my wireless sorted on here meaning i can use it anywhere in the house without losing signal ??

You might already have an installation image on your second drive, but you can download all Acer stuff from their website. Save it yourself if you like, but I certainly uninstall it.
Windows Wireless works very well; but it could be conflicting with the Acer wireless program, if they are both enabled. I found the Acer one worked OK, but sometimes drops out and so I have always preferred to use Windows. That is one part of Windows that is very reliable.
As I said I don't use any of the Acer stuff and the laptop works all the much faster for not having it. I have never found much use for all the extra buttons, when a mouse click does the job anyway.

I took all that lot out 18 months ago. Thats the trouble, I cant remember exactly where in that lot the wireless thingy is. It has brought something to mind though, which might be your trouble. Go into Power Options and set them to Performance. It might have Power Saving set by default. Thats all well and good for your batteries, but you might have to be on top of the router to connect.
