Been using FlashBlock for a while now. As those who also use it will know, every so often, it must be updated because the baddies figure out how to get past it.
After a recent run of problems, when I simply didn't have the time to update FlashBlock, I found noscript
noscript.net/
It takes a bit of work to set up, but the settings can be saved and exported.
It sits on the bottom of the screen showing a line. On one side, is written how many scripts are blocked and the other, an options to decide which to allow.
Initially, everything is is blocked. But as you work your way through the sites you normally visit, you can allow those you wish to.
In the example below, since I know the page well I would start by accepting Allow homemadecirsuitsand schematics.blogspot.com.
That is generally enough to allow full access to any site.
Some, especially those selling stuff, such as Amazon, may need others allowed to make them work. For these I look at those currently blocked and select those I think may be necessary and click
Temporarily allow ............... Later I can change it to permanent, and will never be asked again or leave it and it resets on the next visit.
I recently used Western Union to send a niece some cash. WU always refer my card to my bank for verification. Verified by Visa Mastercard I think its called. For this one, I discovered I needed to accept cardinalcommerce.com but not securesuite.co.uk.
Takes time and effort. If you're careful it can give you the ability to selectively block what you wish and to change your mind later.
It may be too much work for some. I like it, but I'm old so have baggs of time
