Razer Game Booster Maximizes your system performance to give you higher frames per second, by automatically shutting off unnecessary processes and applications when you’re gaming, and resuming them when you’re done - For XP, Vista, W7, W8 and W8.1 www.razerzone.com/gb-en/gamebooster

My gaming computer is AMD from top to bottom, including the 2 ATI graphics cards. AMD software includes a gaming mode the same as that, plus I can put all the RAM onto one screen. I have only ever used ATI Radeon, but I'm sure nVidia GeForce have got the same type of software. They try to talk you into installing this type of software, when you have already got it and then you start getting conflicts. You dont want trouble with a gaming rig, they are easy enough to blow up anyway and believe me thats expensive.

I'm not familiar with AMD but as I understand it, the gaming mode in this routine turns off unneeded Windows services. I ran Razor with W7 and the first thing to appear were warnings of services no-longer available. I haven't had a lot of time looking deeply into it or its function, but it is quite slow. I wanted to see how well it worked running Elite Dangerous, on W7 on my machine, (with my £20 graphics card!) It was quite impressive. I will try again later without it. For the moment, I'm really concentrating upon using Elite. When they said it was Beta stage, they weren't kidding. There is practically no information on what to do or how to do it. What there is is not accurate. The information on the forums seems to be either out of date or talking about something entirely different. Yet the forums seem to treat any criticism as virtual sacrilege. I'll stick at it though. I haven't tried it on my XP set up yet. Almost all non-essential services are switched off anyway. But I'll give it a try and see what happens. I found this on the AMD gaming mode: www.istartedsomething.com/20080918/amd-fusion-gaming-tool-windows-gaming-mode-waiting-for/ If that is what you are referring to, it does indeed sound at least as good, if not better than Razor

Most of the forums are run by geeks Jojo, they use a language that they cant even understand themselves. This is just as well, as they know bugger all. They use a stupid language, because they think it makes them sound clever. The information isn't out of date to them, they are using computers 5 or 6 years older than yours. Third party software might be all right for a 20 quid graphics card, but gaming cards cost more than your computer did new and they need to be looked after. Sometimes overclocking is a waste of time, they are already clocked to their best and it can lead to blowing them up. I proved that the hard way, when they hinted you could squeeze a bit more. My flight sim uses a lot of RAM, but the cards dont need to be revved up that much. A hell of a lot depends on what games you are playing. One things for sure, most of them forum geeks wouldn't last 2 minutes.
