Hi Lynnrose, the blinkie is a free one made from that link you gave out. And Im still playing in gimp. Its not too much diferent to paintshop pro, but i want to make a complete migration to open source software, and so im trying gimp out. its taken me a while to even figure out whats what, but Ive finally made some faultering steps, and here is my latest effort. would love to help out here when this takes off.

Lol Jjude, great pic, looks like something you made back in nursery no offence! Can't wait to see your next masterpiece. Seems that we don't have many artistic people here. I used to do loads with Photoimpact, but I'm not very imaginative and can only follow tutorials.

Never could draw too well Lynnrose, and yes I felt I was back in nursery trying to draw a face, am sure Ill get better
Once I get the hang of the tools, and know where everything is, Im sure stuff will look a bit more grown up. I used to write tutorials for Psp, and its just like learning all over again with Gimp. but ill keep adding here, and when I create something from my own imagination, Ill let you all know ;D

Previous post says: Re: Learning Gimp « Reply #9 Today at 12:33am » I thought Lynn's clock was wrong, it's only 11:28am. Shouldn't it read 00:33am. Blimey! the things you notice when idly browsing.

Yes Phoney Private Investigator I agree with the time thing, but it must be a Pro-boards thingy. I am happy to see you browsing on here, good to know that we can entertain you in some ways
Jj, hope you're right and more members join in x

I think any member may change his/hers time zone in their own profile, I may be wrong. Worth a try.

Hi JJ, I used the Gimp in Linux, but find it very basic at the moment. I do think it has great potential because you can use layers and that is perfect. There is a transform tool and that is perfect. You can save to GIF which is greatly accepted. Just need to get some experience of the program, then it will be a more fairer judgement. Not sure if we can animate using it yet? ;D

I just noticed this easy way of using this site, and that is using the facility to read the last 100 entries/postings, but then if you want to answer any of them. Just click on reply of the actual message, and post from there. It is so much easier to use that way. Well I thought so anyway lol.

Yes Pete, that is one good way to read messages. There is another way that Roz uses, see here message 16

Thanks Lynnrose, re message 16, but my main point was that you can read and reply within the last 100, that is so much easier, but I do use the other ways too lol.....

I thought the word 'gimp' was a general slang term for any graphic. I'll download the software later.

Awwwww bless Phoney, I would say you were a derr-brain, not a plum lol
I admire you for trying to make your own stuff like that smiley. It's ace!
You can start your own thread if you like Phoney and title it with the programme that you have been using for your animations etc. Go on, whaddaya say?

JJ, I noticed the animate is under filters menu, and there is a play back there too. Have tried simple ones but not very good yet. Will practise some more. lol.
